I would like to sign the declaration because I feel that the freedom to communicate ideas and information is essential to the healthy operation of a democratic society. Giving the power of censorship to anybody gives them the ability to subvert the democratic process by manipulating the information people have access to. Democracy isn't meaningful unless people have the ability to share ideas without limiting themselves to what their goverment finds »acceptable«.
